Verdasco, Ruud and Sonego, to rooms in Buenos Aires

The Spanish Fernando Verdasco, the Argentine Federico Coria, the Norwegian Casper Ruud and the Italian Lorenzo Sonego, qualified this Wednesday for the quarterfinals of the Argentine Open, the ATP 250 that is played in Buenos Aires and ends this Sunday.

At first turn, the Argentine Federico Coria turned around a very adverse result against the Serbian Dusan Lajovic, fifth favorite, to win 4-6, 7-5 and 6-4 in two hours and 36 minutes of play.

In the second round of this Wednesday on the brick dust of the central court of the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, Fernando Verdasco also had to battle to defeat the Brazilian Thiago Monteiro after two hours and 17 minutes with partials of 2-6, 6-3 and 7-5.

For its part, the Norwegian Casper Ruud, top favorite of the Buenos Aires contest, continued his path in this tournament by beating the Spanish Roberto Carballes Baena 7-6 (2) and 6-3 and will meet Federico Coria in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Verdasco’s rival in that same instance will be the Italian Lorenzo Sonegothird seeded in the tournament, who on the night of the central court Guillermo Vilas defeated the local Sebastián Báez for a double 6-3.

This Thursday the last matches of the round of 16 will be played with the following crosses: the Italian Fabio Fognini (4) against the Spanish Pedro Martínez, the also Spanish Pablo Andújar against the Argentine Federico Delbonis (6), the Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic against the local Francisco Cerúndolo and the Buenos Aires Diego Schwartzman (2) will cross with the Spanish Jaume Munar.
