The Spanish trial coach, Manuel Mateo, has summoned the young Vera Barón from Madrid and 16 other riders this Monday to compete in the next absolute World Championship, which will be held from August 9 to 12 in Glasgow (Scotland) together with the rest of the cycling disciplines.
As reported by the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC), the representatives of Spain in the women’s competition will be Vera Barón, world champion in 2021, Alba Riera and Irene Caminos. In the elite 20″ category, the national team will have the authors of the triplet in the last edition of the World Cup, Eloi Palau, Borja Conejos and Alejandro Montalvo, along with Benito Ros and Martí Riera.
In the elite 26″ category, the riders from Spain will be Dani Barón, Julen Sáenz de Ormijana, Sergi Llongueras, Toni Guillén and Martí Vayreda. Finally, in the junior category Víctor Pérez, Martí Rusiñol, Daniel Cegarra and Santiago Abril will compete.
In this sense, the RFEC has been described as a “great world power in the trial specialty thanks to its dominance in the medal table of the latest editions of the World Championship”. At the Glasgow World Cup, only the competition in the cyclocross modality will be absent.
The trial competition will begin on August 9 with the team test. The days 10 and 11 of August will be reserved for the qualifiers of the different categories of the trial, while on August 12 the finals of all of them will be held.
