Varapalo for Rocío Monasterio: the one from Vox, condemned for her work as an architect in Arturo Valls’ loft

The VOX deputy has lost her battle against the Antena 3 presenter, who filed a lawsuit against her in 2019 for renovating an apartment without the necessary license. The Provincial Court of Madrid has condemned the company of Dew Monastery after considering that the work was carried out illegally.

The Provincial Court has confirmed the ruling after a Madrid court agreed with Arturo Valls. They have determined that the work, which began in 2005 on a commercial premises in Lavapiés, is “illegal”, since it was carried out “violating urban legality”. They also maintain that the wife of Ivan Espinosa de los Monteros He made it “conscious of its illegality”.


The comedian hired the architect to convert a commercial premises into a home and the works were carried out without the necessary permits, as determined by justice. It all started in 2005, when Valls was looking for a flat in Madrid and contacted the Rocío Monasterio Asociados studio, where they recommended buying the controversial property. It was an old commercial premises measuring 100 square meters located in the Madrid neighborhood of Lavapiés. Both Rocío and her husband assured her that she could convert the commercial ground floor into a home, as the plaintiff assured.

The visa was issued on June 3 of that same year at the Official College of Technical Architects and Surveyors of Madrid. In two of the plans of this 100-square-meter ground floor, the signature of the Monastery itself appears, which did not yet have the title of architect.

On June 3, 2005, they requested the license to begin the works, but the process was archived until three years later “since they had not provided the required documentation within the period granted,” according to the response from the City Council addressed to the study of Monasterio .

Later, licenses were requested to change the use of premises to housing, but Rocío Monasterio once again ignored the procedures and municipal requirements. The petitions were filed for withdrawal in 2008, 2011 and 2018. Meanwhile, the work was carried out without the necessary permits.
