Van Gaal receives encouragement from a former pupil

Former Ecuadorian soccer player Antonio Valencia sent a message of encouragement on Tuesday to the coach of the Netherlands, Louis Van Gaal, who on Sunday made public that he has severe prostate cancer.

“A lot of strength, boss, you are a winner,” Valencia wrote on his social networks with a photo in which Van Gaal shakes his hand at a moment in a Manchester United match, an English club in which both coincided.

The Ecuadorian was under Van Gaal’s orders during the two seasons (2014-2015 and 2015-2016) that the Dutch coach directed the ‘red devils’, in which he won an FA Cup (2016).

Van Gaal, 70, revealed his illness during an interview with a television channel in his country on the occasion of the presentation of a documentary about his life and explained that he has already undergone 25 radiotherapy sessions.

The coach maintained that his intention is to continue leading the Netherlands team in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, where he has been drawn in group A alongside, precisely, Ecuador, in addition to Senegal and the host Qatar.
