Valladolid takes second and Elche gets out of its slump

MADRID, 20 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Real Valladolid beat Amorebieta (0-3) to place second in the LaLiga Hypermotion table with matchday 36 remaining, on a Saturday that helped Elche get out of its bad streak with a 2-1 win over Sporting from Gijón.

The Pucelano team did not fail at the home of a rival on the rise, in search of permanence, and added three points that place it second with 61, two behind the leader Leganés. The good dynamics of Valladolid prevailed over that of an Amorebieta that had only one defeat in the last ten games, but that played a half with one less.

The red card for Garreta, reviewed by the VAR as the last defender, before the break and Escudero’s double shortly after the match resumed in the second half put Valladolid on the road to the three points. Marcos André made the final score 0-3 in the 84th minute, which reaffirms Pucelana’s candidacy for promotion.

Meanwhile, Elche signed three golden points in a direct duel with Sporting, whom they surpassed in the table to get into the playoff zone after four days without winning. The Elche team reconciled with Martínez Valero in the first half, thanks to goals from Mourad and Tete Morente despite Borja Garcés’ early injury, but ended up suffering.

Sporting was more recognizable in the second half, Juan Otero reduced the deficit in the 67th minute and the Asturians were close to a tie in the final stretch. Meanwhile, Racing de Ferrol failed in the ‘Top 6’ and fell (1-0) to a Villarreal B team that regained faith in permanence, leaving it provisionally at the bottom.

Due to the tight fight at the bottom, the derby was played between Huesca and Real Zaragoza, who took the lead in El Alcoraz (1-2) to win away from home as they had not done since October. Víctor Fernández’s men came back in the first half, thanks to Liso and Mesa, from a penalty, in a hot derby with one sent off from each side.

Meanwhile, Racing de Santander and Levante were left to zero despite the many chances they had, a tie that prevents both from strengthening their chances of being in the fight for promotion.
