Real Valladolid and Girona fueled their chances of reaching direct promotion this Sunday after beating Alcorcón (1-2) and Almería (0-1), who marks that second place, on matchday 33 of LaLiga SmartBank.
The pucelano team, third one point from the second direct ticket to First Division, beat a combative potter team, with pride despite their delicate bottom position. Pucela was already in command after half an hour with 0-2 from Roque Mesa and Monchu, and managed to save three points with a double prize.
In the game that closed on Sunday, Almería opened the door to that second place in a tough battle against Girona, fourth to seven points. The Andalusian team missed Umar Sadiq and gave in to a goal from Borja García in the 13th minute. Juan Carlos was great under the sticks in Girona’s fourth victory in a row and Almería missed a penalty that he took twice in the final minutes.
In addition, on Sunday he left two false steps for Tenerife and Ponferradina within the promotion zone in their away games against Burgos (1-0) and Mirándés (3-1). The Canarian team, fifth in the table, lost the option of approaching direct promotion because of a dreamy Castilian team.
The Burgos kept the three points with a goal from Miguel Rubio in the second half, to add 45 and find themselves six away from sixth place for a Ponferradina team that has gone five games without a win. Mirandés shone in front of their fans with goals from Camello (2) and Marqués to move away from the lower zone in their third victory in a row.
