MADRID, 8 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Spanish diver Valeria Antolino qualified for the 3-metre platform final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Thursday after finishing tenth in the semi-finals with a total score of 284.25.
The diver needed to finish in the top 12 to ensure her presence in her first Olympic final, and she performed in a competition that went from strength to strength, just as in the preliminary phase. She received the highest scores in the last two dives, with a 63 in the penultimate one, and a 58.50 in the last one, while her worst attempt was the second one, where she did not go above 51.15.
The negative surprise was caused by the Mexican Aranza Vázquez Montano, who came third in the preliminary phase, and in her fourth attempt in the semi-final, her jump was judged as a mistake by the judges. This diver was one of the favourites to be in the final, which will take place this Friday from 3:00 p.m.
First place was again taken by China’s Yiwen Chen, also the leader of the preliminary round, who scored 360.85, ahead of Australia’s Maddison Keeney with 334.70 and Italy’s Chiara Pellacani with 324.75.
