Valera, Morales and Cepas get into the crossroads of the European Paralympic Table Tennis

MADRID, 5 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish delegation present at the European Paralympic Table Tennis Championships that have been taking place since Monday in Sheffield (United Kingdom) began with the good news of the qualification for the crosses between Álvaro Valera, Jordi Morales and Ander Cepas.

Two veterans like Valera and Morales surpassed their respective group stages of class 6 and class 7 and reached the round of 16. The Sevillian did it with authority after a 3-0 win against the Greek Marios Kanellis Chatzikyriakos and the Pole Piotr Manturz, while the Catalan won with a comeback against the German Henrik Meyer (3-2) and the Dutchman Yannick Paredis 3-0.

The other good news came in class 9 where Ander Cepas from San Sebastian also surpassed his group as first place after beating the Swede Daniel Sune Stefan Gustafsson and the British Ashley Facey 3-0 and also reaching the round of 16.

The rest of the day had joys and disappointments for the other components of the team. Thus, in class 2, Iker Sastre beat Slovakian Jan Riapos 3-2, but Miguel Ángel Toledo and Daniel Rodríguez lost to the Polish Rafal Czupar (3-0) and the Slovakian Martin Ludrovsky (3-1).

Nor were there good results in classes 3 and 4, where Eder Rodríguez could not beat the German Thomas Schmidberger (3-0) and Francisco Javier López fell (3-1) against the Polish Krszysztof Zylka, while in class 6, Alberto Seoane He began his career with a 3-0 defeat against Italian Matteo Parenzan.

In class 8, Alejandro Díaz and Olaia Martínez lost 3-0 against the Ukrainian Viktor Didukh and the Norwegian Aida Dahlen, while in class 9, Juan Bautista Pérez beat the British Ross William Wilson 3-2 and Jorge Cardona added a victory against the German Jan Reinig (3-1) and a defeat against the British Joshua Stacey (3-0). In class 11, there was also joy with the victory of Eduardo Cuesta against the Turkish Utku Caberoglu 3-0
