The match between Valencia and Real Madrid, corresponding to matchday 12 of LaLiga EA Sports 2024-2025, scheduled for December 5, postponed by DANA, will finally be played next Friday, January 3 at the Mestalla Stadium, according to a new resolution of the National Committee of Second Instance of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).
Therefore, the committee responds to an appeal from the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) in which they defended that the match, scheduled for January 2 after its postponement by DANA, “would breach the current collective agreement and violate the rights of footballers”, since article 11.2 establishes “that no matches of any kind of official competition will be scheduled from December 23, 2024 to January 2, 2025, both dates included.”
AFE also proposes a new date, January 3, which was accepted by Valencia and Real Madrid according to the entity. It was then, on December 7 and 8, when both clubs presented separate letters in which they accepted the change and requested that their Copa del Rey round of 32 matches be played on January 6 and 7.
And then, it was LaLiga, this Tuesday, who asked the committee that the time of the match be 9:00 p.m. “based on the fact that, being Friday, the match was scheduled at the usual time of LaLiga matches in the First Division.”
After studying the different documents, the National Committee of Second Instance agreed to “uphold the appeal document presented by AFE and annul the Resolution dated December 5, issued by the Single Judge of Professional Competitions of the RFEF”, to “establish the next Friday, January 3, 2025, at 9:00 p.m., as the date for the match between Valencia and Real Madrid.
In addition, they require the RFEF Men’s Competitions Area to, in relation to the clubs’ proposals regarding the determination of dates for the 1/16 finals of the Cup, as it is a non-professional competition, attend to the request for the dates. and match times for both teams in this tournament.
