Valencia Basket wins its first League at the expense of Perfumerías Avenida

MADRID, 7 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Valencia Basket was proclaimed champion of the Endesa Women’s League for the first time in its history by beating Perfumerías Avenida (69-81) in Salamanca, 2-0 at home that crowned the ‘taronja’ project at the home of a ‘great’ of national basketball.

A trophy that had Raquel Carrera as MVP, with 20 points, 8 rebounds and a PIR of 28, and which was based on the great party leadership of Cristina Ouviña. After losing the first game on Thursday at La Fonteta, Avenida had no choice but to win this Sunday in front of their fans to force a tiebreaker.

The women from Salamanca entered the second chapter with that intention and an opening run of 26-16 heralded the awakening of the champion. Those of Pepe Vázquez also annulled Lauren Cox, the best of the first game, but the Valencians sought resources.

Carrera began to leave his mark but the visitor’s comeback at that time was threatened, with a powerful Alexis Prince (39-29) and a Silvia Domínguez who led the blow at the eight-time champion’s table, even in the return from the locker room (51-39).

Rubén Burgos’ men then began the serious comeback that gripped Permuferías Avenida, without a net in search of the third game against an opponent who plugged in in the second half with Ouviña, Alba Torrens, Queralt Casas and an unstoppable Carrera (61-66).

Valencia was unleashed, with a last quarter of 10-24 that silenced the Würzburg Pavilion, to be League champion for the first time with only five years in the elite.
