MADRID 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk won again on points against the British Tyson Fury this Saturday in the rematch of the fight for the absolute heavyweight title, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as he won last May.
Usyk added Fury’s World Council belt to his Association, Organization and International Federation titles seven months ago with a split decision victory and, in the rematch, produced an epic comeback.
The Ukrainian retained his status as undisputed champion, something that was not seen until he achieved it after almost a quarter of a century (Lennox Lewis in 1999), giving Fury the second defeat of his career. The English giant fell 116-112 from the three judges.
Usyk, 37 years old and Olympic champion in 2012, withstood a first stretch of combat from Fury, with his cunning and desire for victory keeping his best to retain the heavyweight belts and maintain his undefeated status with 23 victories.
