The Spanish cyclist Urko Berrade will continue in the Kern Pharma Team for the next two seasons after extending his contract until 2026, in a bet by the rider from Pamplona, winner of the last Vuelta a España of the eighteenth stage, which ended in the Izki Natural Park .
“The Navarrese cyclist, recent stage winner in the Vuelta a España, is one of the pillars of the project and has renewed his contract until 2026 to continue growing and adding successes with the team,” announced the Spanish team.
Urko Berrade, 26 years old and at Kern Pharma since 2020, said he was “very happy” to continue for two more years. “It is the team that has seen me grow and that has helped me take steps forward. This year I have taken the leap that I have sought so much and that was expected of me,” he highlighted about his renewal.
A leap brought about by his first victory, and after also doing so in La Vuelta 24. The Navarrese, with four members of the Kern Pharma Team in the breakaway of the 18th stage, launched an attack 5 kilometers from the finish line to win alone in the Park Originally from Izki. Since the premiere of the Kern Pharma Team in 2020, Urko Berrade (Pamplona, 1997) has been one of the visible faces of the Navarrese team. After three years of success in the structure with the Lizarte Team, he made the leap to professionals in 2019 with Euskadi-Murias before returning to the pharmaceutical structure.
With Team Kern Pharma, he has achieved several ‘Top 10’ finishes in stage races such as the Tour du Limousin, CRO Race, O Gran Camiño and Tour de Slovakia, in addition to two Top-10 positions in the Spanish Road Championship ( 7th) and time trial (6th).
“It has been a joy to be able to grow alongside the team, a tough path but one that we have enjoyed, maintaining the essence.
