The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, met this Tuesday at the organization's headquarters in Madrid with the president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE). , Miguel Carballeda and the presidents of the sports federations to present the priority lines of their mandate, at the beginning of 2024 with the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.
Among the main lines of action, the president of the CSD highlighted the regulatory development of the new Sports Law, which will include, among others, the Royal Decree on Mandatory Sports Insurance and the Athlete Statute, according to a statement issued by the organization.
They also addressed the promotion of physical activity as a “driver of health”, with the development during this first semester of the National Strategy against Sedentary Lifestyle; progress in promoting equality and inclusion in sport; the “continuous” improvement of high performance, thanks to programs such as Team España and PROAD; the promotion of sport as the “backbone of the territory”; support for the sports industry; the promotion of grassroots, school and university sports; promoting sport as a “sign of identity of Spain in the world.”
Rodríguez Uribes ended this first meeting by recalling the “firm commitment of the Government of Spain to sport” and thanking the “extraordinary work” of the federations and the “fundamental pillar” represented by the COE and the CPE.
