United prevent Lindelof from traveling with Sweden to Denmark

The Swedish Federation has confirmed that the quarantine rules imposed by the United Kingdom on travelers arriving from Denmark will prevent having five footballers. Sweden plays a friendly against Denmark on Wednesday 11 November.

Manchester United were the first club to prevent defender Victor Lindelof from going with his team to Denmark. The other four affected are Robin Olsen (Everton); Emil Krafth (Newcastle); Filip Helander (Rangers) and Ken Sema (Watford). The five footballers will join their teammates in Stockholm for the Nations League clash that measures Sweden against Croatia (14-N) and will subsequently travel to France (17-N). The United Kingdom has taken this social health measure after learning about the mutation of the virus through mink that have infected several people.

England-Iceland, in Albania?

The collateral effect of the restrictions may carry over to the England-Iceland League of Nations (scheduled for Wednesday 18 November). Iceland plays days before against Denmark in Danish lands so the United Kingdom would prevent Icelandic players from traveling to British soil. For now UEFA maintains the game, although it is not ruled out that it will be played outside England. But according to the BBC, Albania would be the place to be considered in case the clash cannot be played in the United Kingdom. Although elite athletes are exempt from coronavirus-related travel bans, The UK is very blunt with travelers from Denmark.
