United hits it and Arsenal thrashes in first class

MADRID, 29 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Manchester United made their chances of being in the round of 16 of the Champions League very complicated after losing a draw (3-3) against Galatasaray on the penultimate matchday of Group A, while Arsenal achieved the ticket, as the first in addition to Group B, with a 6-0 over Lens.

The ‘red devils’ will need a miracle within two weeks to continue in the top continental competition: beating Bayern and for Galatasaray and Copenhagen to draw. A fateful night by goalkeeper Andre Onana condemned a United team that went 0-2 after 20 minutes in Istanbul with Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes.

Ziyech, with a gift from the goalkeeper, closed the gap for the hosts, but at the beginning of the second half, the English team once again put McTominay in the middle. Onana sang again in another goal from Ziyech’s free kick and Akturkoglu made it 3-3.

Again, as against Copenhagen in the internal round, United threw away three points that they had in their hands so as not to depend on themselves in the Champions League, although they could have been left without options if the Danish team had scratched something more than the point in Munich . Bayern, first in Group A, had to settle for a lackluster 0-0, even though they tried at the end and paid for their frustration with complaints to the French referee Frappart.

Meanwhile, Arsenal sealed their ticket, in first class by securing the lead, with a resounding victory at the Emirates, where at half-time they already had a 5-0 lead. Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Saka, Martinelli and Odegaard managed to help Mikel Arteta’s men, with the sixth at the end, from a penalty, by Jorginho.

Thus, the ‘Gunner’ team sealed a Group B where a PSV that came back from Sevilla (2-3) also advances to the round of 16. The Andalusian team will at least have the option on the last day of taking third place from Lens, if they get the three points in France, to play in the Europa League where they are seven-time champions.

In addition, Real Madrid tied first place in Group C with a 4-2 win against Naples, an Italian team that is almost certain of the other ticket, since they would have to lose in the last match against Braga by two or more goals in the Diego Armando Maradona.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad and Inter Milan, both already classified before this Wednesday, will play in a direct duel for first place in Group D, after two draws against Salzburg (0-0) and Benfica (3-3 , with a great reaction), which left both the Spanish and Italian teams with 11 points.
