UEFA threatens Super League clubs and their players

The UEFA has publicly positioned itself against the creation of the European Super League and does not rule out taking drastic measures against 12 founding clubs: Barça, Real Madrid, Atlético, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Juventus, Milan and Inter.

The statement from the highest European football organization explains that “UEFA, the English Football Federation and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the Lega Serie A have known the intention of some English, Spanish and Italian clubs to create a closed European Super League. Should this happen, reiterate that we, the UEFA, the English FA, RFEF, FIGC, the Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all of our member federations, we will remain united in our efforts to stop this cynical project, a model that is based on the self-interest of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever ”.

UEFA announces that “We will study all the measures within our reach, at all levels, both judicial and sporting, to prevent this from happening; can not it be a different way. Soccer is based on open competitions and sporting merit. As announced by FIFA and the six Confederations, the clubs affected They will not be able to participate in any other competition at national, European or world level, and their players could be deprived of the opportunity to represent their National teams”.

“We thank the clubs in other countries, especially the french and german, who have refused to subscribe it. We call on all football lovers, fans and politicians, to join us in fighting this project if it is announced. This lingering interest of a few takes too long. Enough is enough ”, concludes the official joint statement from UEFA, the English Football Federation and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, and the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and the Lega Serie A .
