UEFA sanctions Juventus and Eintracht Frankfurt for “racist behaviour”

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

UEFA has sanctioned this Saturday the Italian Juventus and the German Eintracht Frankfurt for “racist or discriminatory behavior” after the Champions League matches played by both clubs at the beginning of September.

The ‘bianconeri’ received a fine of 15,000 euros and were sentenced to the partial closure of their stadium -with at least 1,000 seats and suspended for a one-year trial period- for the “racist behavior” of their fans during the match against the Paris Saint-Germain (2-1) on September 6 at the Parc des Princes.

During the duel, several ultras of the Italian team made the fascist salute and even dedicated monkey sounds to some PSG players.

For its part, Eintracht will have to pay a fine of 15,000 euros for racist behavior and another of 30,000 euros for lighting fireworks and throwing objects during the visit to Olympique de Marseille on September 13. He was also sanctioned with the partial closure of his field, a sentence contingent on the behavior of his fans during the next year.

In addition, you must pay within 30 days for damage caused by your ultras at the Vélodrome stadium, especially for broken seats. The Bundesliga team has already issued a statement in which it distanced itself from an individual who made the Nazi salute in the French stadium.

On the other hand, Olympique de Marseille will have to play their next Champions League game at home behind closed doors for allowing the throwing of objects, the lighting of fireworks and flares, the use of laser pointers and for not preventing them from being blocked. the halls after the same game.

The French team had already received a sanction to close the stadium in June, which was kept in abeyance in the hope of not breaking the rules in the following year. Upon receiving this new sanction, he will have to play without spectators his next European match at home, against Sporting de Portugal on October 12. He will also have to close the Virage Nord del Vélodrome stand against Tottenham on November 1.

Nice was also ordered to play a Conference League game behind closed doors due to incidents experienced in each of its two games in the competition this season, against Cologne and Partizan.
