UEFA reaffirms its commitment to piracy

The UEFA reaffirmed its commitment against piracy and applauded the World Trade Organization report that concludes that the broadcasts of the television operator beoutQ are illegal.

“Today's ruling clearly shows that no one involved in audiovisual piracy should be considered above the rule of law “, UEFA said in a statement.

He also warned that “Those who seek to follow the example of beoutQ must not doubt that UEFA will do everything possible to protect its property and support its partners, whose investment in soccer helps him remain the world's most popular sport, from grassroots to elite. “

“Piracy not only threatens that investment but also the existence of professional sports as we know it”, He added after indicating that beoutQ was located “on frequencies transmitted by Arabsat and was promoted and carried out by individuals and entities subject to the territorial jurisdiction of Saudi Arabia.”

Months ago, UEFA, together with FIFA, the Asian Confederation (AFC) and the main European leagues jointly called for tackling international sports piracy as holders of sports competition rights, systematically infringed by the aforementioned television operator.

They then announced that the report of a commissioned investigation into its activities concluded that “beoutQ's pirated broadcasts have been broadcast using a satellite infrastructure owned and operated by Arabsat as well.”
