UEFA announced this Friday that it has opened several disciplinary proceedings after last Wednesday’s Europa League final between Sevilla and AS Roma, including the coach of the Italian team, José Mourinho for his behavior after the meeting with referee Anthony Taylor, and the Andalusian team for the invasion of the field after scoring Gonzalo Montiel the final penalty.
Mourinho was very critical of the performance of the English referee in the press conference after the defeat on penalties and was later caught in the stadium car park angrily addressing the refereeing team saying that it had been “a fucking shame”.
For this reason, the Disciplinary Commission of the European body accuses the Portuguese coach of “insulting/abusive language against a match official”, which is why he could receive a disciplinary sanction. In addition, he also accused Roma of “improper conduct” and incidents by their fans.
For its part, Sevilla could also receive some sanction after UEFA accused the Seville club of various altercations involving its fans, including the “invasion of the pitch” when they won the penalty shootout.
