UEFA opens disciplinary procedure to Marseille and Eintracht for the incidents at the Velodrome

MADRID, 14 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

UEFA has opened a disciplinary procedure against Olympique de Marseille and Eintrancht, after the incidents that occurred in the surroundings of the French team’s stadium, as reported by the roganism of European football this Wednesday.

“Disciplinary procedures were initiated in accordance with article 55 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) after the UEFA Champions League group stage match between Olympique de Marseille and Eintracht (0-1) played on 13 December. September 2022 in France,” UEFA said in a statement.

Specifically, UEFA pointed out that the French team failed to comply with articles referring to the throwing of objects, the lighting of fireworks, the use of laser pointers, the generation of crowds and the blocking of public roads in the vicinity of the Velodrome.

On the part of the German team, the European body determined that its fans also carried artificial fireworks and threw objects at the Marseille fans, in addition to talking about charges for damages and racist behavior. Some images would show Eintracht fans making the Nazi salute inside the stadium.

The German outfit earned their first Champions League victory against Marseille on Tuesday, but their 1-0 win was overshadowed by incidents outside and inside the French stadium, with social media images appearing to show fans of both teams launching fireworks.
