Surprising decision by UEFA, which has decided not to postpone the Champions League quarter-final match between Bayern Munich and PSG despite having the German squad with seven cases of covid’19 in its ranks.
The Bavarian club announced yesterday that seven players had tested positive for covid-19. Despite this, the team will have to play the second leg of the quarterfinals at the Parc des Princes, in a maximum duel that will have 25,000 spectators and that will decide the ticket to the semifinals. However, UEFA has been intransigent despite the complaints of the club and the German press.
“UEFA says we have to play,” lamented the Bayern Munich coach, Jens Scheuer, at the press conference the day before the match.
Bayern lost the first quarter-final match against PSG 1-2 and hoped to turn the score around, although now the contest has become more complicated. Now, the affected players are in home quarantine.

“It is a disaster that the virus affects us in this way, especially during these crucial weeks,” said Jens Scheuer. “But finding a new date to play the game was not an option. UEFA says we have to play,” he added.
The players who have tested positive for covid-19 are Linda Dallmann, Jovana Damnjanovic, Franziska Kett, Karolina Lea Vilhjalmsdottir, Carina Wenninger, Sarah Zadrazil and Maximiliane Rall.
Viviane Asseyi has been suspended and Laura Benkarth, Ivana Rudelic, Marina Hegering and Maria Luisa Groh have been injured for a long time and are not yet ready for matches.
However, the German team will go for victory despite the setbacks: “We will field a team that can win in Paris. I am very excited about this game and I know that the girls will do everything”, said the coach.
