UEFA fines Ajax for incidents against Getafe

The UEFA has fined Ajax Amsterdam with a fine of 53,250 euros for seats destroyed by their fans at Getafe stadium, the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez, and the launch of objects during the Europa League soccer match on February 20, the Dutch club said in a statement.

The striker of the Madrid team Deyverson Silva suffered the impact of a lighter when he celebrated the goal he scored in the first half and the object was thrown from the stands where the Dutch supporters were. After the game, destroyed seats were found in the area reserved for these same fans.

The Dutch team's management assured that it has identified those responsible and has begun a procedure to make them pay the UEFA sanction, it said in the statement.

It is the second time in less than six months that the Amsterdam club is punished for the behavior of its followers in Spain, since he received a fine of 50,000 euros due to the altercations that occurred on October 2 after Valencia-Ajax in the Champions League.

On the Dutch team there is a suspension of a game away from home without being able to buy tickets, although it is temporarily suspended on the condition that its fans do not engage in similar behavior for a year.

It remains to be seen whether the incidents of the Europa League second leg match between Ajax and Getafe at the Johan Cruyff Arena, which occurred on February 27, carry another punishment.

Some Dutch supporters threw plastic cups of beer into a tribune area where family members of the Madrid club players were sitting, prompting Getafe president Angel Torres to announce that he would file a complaint with UEFA.
