As announced by UEFA through an official statement, the aforementioned study will be chaired by the Portuguese Tiago Brandao Rodrigues, who will lead an “exhaustive” review that will examine “the decision-making, responsibility and behavior of all the entities involved in the final”.
Brandao Rodrigues, UEFA reported, is a member of the Portuguese parliament and president of the Parliamentary Committee on the Environment and Energy. In addition, he was the Portuguese Minister of Education (also responsible for Sports and Youth) between 2015 and 2022.
He was also a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Council between 2019 and 2021 and was the Portuguese Olympic attaché during the London 2012 Games.
In addition, UEFA noted that to ensure that the process is independent, Brandao Rodrigues agreed to “perform the task free of charge.”
“Evidence will be collected from all relevant parties and the conclusions of the independent report will be made public once completed and, upon receipt of the conclusions, UEFA will assess the next steps (to be taken),” UEFA concluded in its statement.
