UEFA appoints new referees for the resumption of PSG-Istanbul and removes the red from Webó

The UEFA has decided to change the referee, the band assistants and the fourth referee of the PSG-Istanbul Basaksehir match, of the sixth day of the Champions League that was suspended last night.

The players of both teams stood and withdrew after allegedly a racist insult from the fourth official in the clash occurred, Romanian Sebastian Coltescu, in the direction of former Cameroonian international Achille Pierre Webo, whom he pointed out by the color of his skin so that the main referee, his compatriot Ovidiu Alin Hategan, would admonish him for his loud protests to a foul.

Webo, former player of Nacional de Montevideo, Osasuna, Mallorca and Leganés, ostensibly complained about the use of the word 'black', but the referee ignored him and showed him the red card.

The Turkish bench was outraged, and led by Demba Ba from France, the protests escalated despite Coltescu trying to explain that it was not a racist expression. The PSG players were also involved and in the end both teams withdrew from the Parc de los Príncipes lawn.

The meeting will resume this afternoon, starting at 6:55 p.m. with a new referee body. Dutch Danny Makkelie will be the new referee.

In the bands they will be his compatriot Mario Diks and the Pole Marcin Boniek, and the fourth official, also Polish Bartosz Frankowski, while the managers of the VAR will be the Italians Marco di Bello and Maurizio Mariani.

The match He was going at the time of suspension, in the 22nd minute, with a zero tie. It is a clash that should certify the qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League for the Parisians, against some Turks who were already eliminated from Europe. The victory of RB Leipzig against Manchester United gave the pass to the French, that now they have to beat the Turks to pass as first.

UEFA removes the red from Webó and appoints an inspector to investigate the racist incident

Basaksehir's assistant coach, long known to Spanish football fans, will be able to sit on the bench this afternoon, at the resumption of the match suspended last night. UEFA has decided to remove the red he saw after the insult of the Romanian fourth official.

In addition, UEFA has announced the appointment of a disciplinary inspector to carry out the open investigation into the racist incident that occurred on Tuesday during the Champions League match between PSG and Turkish Basaksehir.

The incident led to the suspension of the match, which will resume tonight with a new referee team.

UEFA does not reveal the identity of the inspector and announces that it will communicate the results of the investigation in due course.
