Txiki Begiristain (City) also met Raiola for Haaland

Erling Haaland’s future remains more open than ever. The Norwegian striker will hardly continue in the ranks of Borussia Dortmund next season and several clubs are already working discreetly to get him signed this summer.

Days after the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf uncovered the summit held by Joan Laporta and Jordi Cruyff in Monaco with the Norwegian’s representative, Mino Raiola, the journalist Fabrizio Romano reveals that FC Barcelona was not the only club to meet with the popular agent.

Bayern and City, also in Monaco

In the days after the Barça-Raiola summit, held on February 16, Bayern and Manchester City also traveled to the Principality to see Haaland’s representative face to face.

Romano details that in the case of the Bavarian team it was not to talk about the Borussia Dortmund striker, but to find out about the situation of another of those represented by Raiola, in this case Ryan Gravenberch (19), Ajax midfielder.

Haaland’s name was on the table at the meeting between City emissary Txiki Begiristain and Raiola. From this summit it has transpired that the ‘citizens’ are very interested in the Dortmund striker and intend to push hard to get him to join.

Remember that last summer Pep Guardiola’s team pulled the checkbook on the signing of Jack Grealish (paid 117 million euros), but was left without finding a replacement for Kun Agüero, so among his preferences is to get hold of a center forward, with Haaland being the most desired.

Madrid did not move

According to Romano, Real Madrid did not attend this round of interviews that Raiola held with several clubs, although in his opinion said absence does not take him out of the Norwegian’s career. The Whites are in permanent contact with the striker’s agent, but all his efforts will be aimed at completing Florentino Pérez’s great goal, Kylian Mbappé (PSG).

Thus, Barça and City are the clubs most interested in Erling Haaland, increasingly disenchanted in a Dortmund that was eliminated against the odds in the Europa League at the hands of Scottish Rangers. Despite the ‘fair play’ problems, the Catalans are willing to make an effort next summer for one of the great scorers of the moment, although the competition will be fierce.
