Twelve Spanish boats will compete in the Racice Rowing World Championship

The European medalists Rodrigo Conde, Aleix García, Javier Canalejo and Javier García lead the list of twelve Spanish boats that will participate from this Sunday until September 25 in the World Rowing Championship, which will be held in Racice (Czech Republic) and which will be For the first time, Spain comes with three Paralympic boats.

The Spanish representation will have the European silver in double scull, Aleix García and Rodrigo Conde (M2x); the European bronze in two without, Jaime Canalejo and Javier García (M2-); the Olympic diplomas Manel Balastegui and Caetano Horta, in the lightweight double scull (LM2x); Virginia Díaz, in the women’s skiff (W1x); Natalia de Miguel, bronze in the first World Cup, in women’s light skiff (WL1x); Jordi Jofre, in the men’s heavy skiff (M1x); and Rocío Lao and Ana Navarro, in the lightweight double scull (WL2x).

Spain also comes with three new boats to the World Cup. The Olympian Aina Cid will row in the women’s two without (W2-) together with María Fernanda Valencia; Denis Carracedo, Jorge Knabe, Daniel Gutiérrez and Antonio Díaz will do it in the men’s light four skull (M4x); while Beñat Odriozola will row in PR2, Paralympic modality.

This is the first time that three Paralympic boats have participated in a world championship. To the PR1 boats, by Javier Reja; and PR3, by Verónica Rodríguez, Enrique Floriano, Jorge Pineda, Josefa Benítez and Leonor García (T); PR2 is added, with Beñat Odriozola.

“We have worked very well throughout the year. Proof of this are the medals and results obtained in the World Cups and the European past in Munich. In addition, this work dynamic is infecting more members of the national team and we have been able to train new boats for the world championships. It stands out that, for the first time, Spain comes with three Paralympic boats to a World Championship”, said Daniel Rodríguez, head of coaches of the Spanish Rowing Federation.
