Tunisia-Mali referee ended up in hospital due to heat stroke

Janny Sikazwe, referee of Tunisia-Mali, brought the controversial note of the day yesterday of the African Cup. He ended the game in minute 85, to outrage, especially from the Tunisians, who were losing 0-1 and struggling to come back in the last minutes. But this action could have a reason of urgency. As revealed by Essam Abdel-Fatah, the chief referee for the Africa Cup, Sikazwe suffered a heat stroke during the game that would have made him lose concentration. And he ended up in the hospital to undergo various medical tests.

As Essam Abdel-Fatah clarified, at the end of the match, the 42-year-old referee had to be taken to hospital, which would explain their rush to whistle the end first and then their absence when the game was about to resume for a few minutes, before which the Tunisians, outraged, refused to resume the game. Then he was to be directed in his final stretch by the fourth official.

Sikazwe is refereeing an Africa Cup for the sixth time and also led matches at the 2018 World Cup and the 2021 Arab Cup. However, recall various media, his name is more associated with a corruption scandal in 2018, which cost him suspension in 2018 by the CAF before being acquitted in 2019.
