Tsonga wants to shine again at the Australian Open

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga wants to once again stand up to the great rackets of the ATP circuit while trying to put back problems behind that have weighed him down in these last two seasons and that have made him fall to 258 in the ATP ranking after a year in which he has achieved a sad balance of 1-8 and where he has not competed since he fell in five sets against Mikael Ymer in the first round of Wimbledon.

Now, at 36 years old, Tsonga wants to show his best tennis again at the Australian Open, the Grand Slam where he achieved his best result after reaching the final of the tournament in the 2008 edition. Tsonga has asked for an invitation to be able to play the tournament since, by classification, it is also very difficult to be able to play the preliminary phase.

In statements collected by the Tennis.com portal, Tsonga confessed that he has worked very hard to put the injury behind him and that he hopes to play at the highest level in the Australian Grand Slam after giving up playing at the last US Open. “I’m working very hard to come back and, if it can’t be at the Australian Open, I’ll do it somewhere else. I’m working hard to get back to the highest level,” says Tsonga, who wants to make things difficult again for the tennis elite.
