Stefanos Tsitsipas and Andrey Rublev will meet in the Roland Garros quarterfinals on Wednesday after beating Grigor Dimitrov and Marton Fucsovics respectively on Monday. It is the first that both have gone so far in the French Grand Slam. Rublev dominates 2-1 in private duels.
Tsitsipas got rid of Dimitrov with some ease (6-3, 7-6 (9) and 6-2 in 2:26). The Greek, the first tennis player from his country to reach the quarterfinals in Paris, took advantage of the Bulgarian's numerous failures (53 unforced errors) to break his serve three times, once in the first set and two in the third, and closed the door well with his serve by saving the only three occasions to add breaks that he had your rival. The game was played indoors at Philippe Chatrier and did not have much history.
Rublev, for his part, had to play outdoors, in the Suzanne Lenglen, and things went a bit twisted when he lost the first set to an inspired Fucsovics, but in the end he beat the Hungarian 6-7 (4), 7-5, 6-4 and 7-6 (3)) at 3:54 am. It was a tough match for the Russian, who already reached this same heights a few weeks ago at the US Open. Fucsovics attacked hard (61 winners), but he was also very wrong (63 unprovoked misses) and lost his serve seven times. He was with a break advantage in the second set (4-1 and 5-2), but Rublev won five games in a row and turned the game around.
