Triumph of the Royal Union of Irun against Talavera de la Reina (3-1)

The Union won 3-1 against Talavera in the match played this Saturday at the Stadium Gal. Real Unión de Irún arrived with the intention of returning to the path of victory after suffering a 2-0 loss in the previous duel against Internacional. As for the visiting team, Talavera de la Reina had just beaten SD Logroñés 1-0 at home in the last game played. With this defeat, the team from Toledo was in sixteenth position after the end of the match, while Real Unión de Irún is ninth.

The match started in an unbeatable way for Talavera de la Reina, who took advantage of the play to open the scoring through a goal by Pichín in the 25th minute. However, in the 28th minute, Real Unión de Irún managed to equalize through Góngora scored a goal in his own goal, thus ending the first period with the score of 1-1.

In the second half, luck came to the eleven from Irun, who turned the luminous side around with a goal from Bravo in the 60th minute. After this, a new opportunity allowed the local team to increase the score, which increased the score through a goal from Quique Rivero’s penalty spot in the 71st minute, ending the match with a final score of 3-1.

It was a game with several movements on the benches. Talavera brought in Adighibe, David Añón, Vicente Romero, Edmílson Santos and Ernest Forgàs for Perales, Toño Calvo, Jon Ceberio, Rodrigo Rodrigues and Jordi Ortega and for Unión Nacho, Quique Rivero, Pradera and Barbu were replaced by Chema Nuñez, Anatz Elizondo, Bravo and Erik Ruiz.

With this victory, Aitor Zulaika’s team was in ninth place with 54 points at the end of the match, while the team led by Víctor Cea was in sixteenth place with 39 points, relegated to the Second Division.

The teams will continue to play their next matches in the First RFEF: Talavera de la Reina will try to return to the path of victory in their next duel against Cultural Leonesa at home, while Real Unión de Irún will play against Extremadura UD out of home.
