Tracker for the NBA Trade Deadline 2024: News on the Most Recent Trades and Rumors

The NBA trade deadline in 2024 is just six weeks away, and there have already been several reports about teams that could be traded.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, who works inside the NBA, doesn’t think the trade deadline will be that busy, even though he thinks there will be a lot of buyers.

There were a lot of buyers but not many sellers, Wojnarowski wrote upon threads. “The play-in tournament is partly to blame for that.

It has kept more organizations trying to make the playoffs instead of letting them drop into the lottery.”

Also, this isn’t seen as a very good draft class, so there’s even less reason to give up a chance to make the playoffs for some additional ping-pong balls.

Trades will happen. People will sell things. Real bad teams will, however, ask a lot for assets they want to sell, which slows things down.

“And the Lakers will have two more first-round picks to work with when the draft comes around again next year.”

There have been trade rumors about the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers for months, but now that the trade deadline is coming up on Thursday, the noise has picked up.

Atlanta Hawks wing Dejounte Murray was recently associated with Los Angeles, but things could have changed.

A possible trade for Murray was talked about in detail by Jake Fischer for Yahoo! Sports and Marc Stein, a longtime NBA reporter who hosts The Stein Line in KEGL-FM in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Fischer specifically said that his sources say the Lakers are one of only two teams that have made “actual offers” for the Atlanta guard.

Fischer said that the Lakers don’t have the best offer to meet the Hawks’ asking price for Murray. He also said that the team has two more first-round picks that they can use in the draft.

“And the Lakers just don’t have a clear package that will give the Hawks the picks they want and the player that they want—a player who doesn’t have what’s thought to be a bad long-term contract,” Fischer said.

It’s a bit strange that Murray hasn’t gotten any real offers yet, but things usually get busier in the last day or two beforehand the trade deadline.

From a competitive point of view, the Lakers might do better if the Hawks keep Murray till the offseason when they can use their two extra draft picks.

The plans for the wedding were made months ahead of time. Before the Boston Celtics came back from being down 3-0 to the Miami Heat within the Eastern Conference Finals but lost Game 7 at home.

Before the front office of the team had to come to terms with another disappointing season in which they came agonizingly close to winning their 18th NBA title but fell short.

Marcus Smart was the team’s heart and soul and the former offensive player of the Year. He was traded long before it was even an idea.

Smart and his fiancée Maisa Hallum chose September 16 as the venue for their wedding at the fancy Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach, California.

They wanted family, friends, and a lot of people from the Celtics organization, who picked Smart sixth overall in the 2014 draft and helped him become the player and man he is now, to be there.

It was beautiful to be on a bluff with a view of the Pacific Ocean. The aisle and gazebo were decorated with white flowers, and the lawns were well-kept and beautiful. Hotel guests stayed in villas as well as bungalows. The pool is a tribute to Rome’s Coliseum. The place is very fancy in every way.

But things were very different by the time the RSVP cards were due. The Heat beat Boston in seven games, but Boston was too tired to stop Miami’s switching defense and hot 3-point shooting (43% in the series, 48% in their wins).
