A win for Arsenal would have ended the excitement and classify Chelsea on the rebound. But now, after City and Liverpool, they continue to caress access to the Champions League with 70 points, while the ‘gunners’ remain fourth with 66 although Tottenham is already on their heels with 65. In addition, Arteta loses for the next game in Newcastle central defenders Rob Holding, expelled, and Gabriel Magalhaes, injured.

Arsenal started this derby well, which had been pending to be played since it was postponed in January. Arteta’s men dominated the first minutes and locked up Tottenham although a penalty, much protested by the ‘gunners’, due to a slight push from Cédric Soares to Heung-min Son in a center by Dejan Kulusevski ended up confirming the change in trend that he was experiencing the match.

Harry Kane opened the scoring by converting the penalty (21′) and from that moment on Arsenal, who were already beginning to have difficulties linking up their plays, completely collapsed without any ability to react.

Kane marks and red to Holding

This collapse was influenced by the expulsion of Rob Holding after seeing two yellow cards for two fouls on Son in just seven minutes. The centre-back left the field after elbowing the South Korean in the face as he ran for a long ball (33′).

Kane delved into the eternal rival’s wound by heading a corner at the far post that Rodrigo Bentancur headed in the first instance (37′). The crack of Tottenham is the player who has scored the most goals (13 in 15 games) against the ‘gunners’ in the Premier.

Arsenal were slow to appear in attack although Hugo Lloris prevented them from getting back into the game before the break by deflecting a good shot from Eddie Nketiah over the crossbar (43′).

Son, one goal from Salah

Arteta hoped that a goal after the restart would give life to his team but his plans quickly fell apart at 3-0, the work of Son in the 47th minute when he picked up a loose ball in a fight between Kane and Gabriel Magalhaes. The South Korean has 21 goals and is only one behind Pichichi Mohamed Salah (Liverpool). In addition, with 91, he is already Tottenham’s third all-time top scorer in the English championship after Kane (181) and Teddy Sheringham (97).

The 3-0 definitively liquidated the derby. Bukayo Saka, with a shot providentially taken by Ben Davies, and Martin Odegaard were able to score the goal of honor for Arsenal, which ended their run of four wins in a row, but Tottenham, much superior, even extended their thrashing if it weren’t for the goal Aaron Ramsdale.

And, to top it off, Gabriel Magalhaes is injured

Gabriel Magalhaes’s injury a quarter of an hour from the end further complicates Arsenal’s outlook, which, however, depends on itself to return to the Champions League. On Monday he visits Newcastle and will close the Premier at home against an Everton that is desperately playing for permanence. Tottenham still has to receive a Burnley also fighting to avoid relegation and will visit the relegated coilist Norwich.
