Tottenham endures mockery from their new sponsor

Social networks are increasingly important in sports. The movements of the clubs are announced by Twitter with great fanfare, as well as allowing the interaction of these with the fans. However, sometimes, and as they say, some publications are loaded by the devil. Phil Foden was a good example of it, when he had to delete a Tweet provoking Mbappé after the classification of City and PSG for the semifinals of the Champions League. In his case, the culprit was, a priori, the company that he had hired to manage his networks. In this case, the protagonist is another company, Dulux, Tottenham's new sponsor

The Spurs announced Thursday, via Twitter, that the paint brand was becoming their first “official paint supplier.” The publication featured Dulux's dog, very famous in the UK, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and the fans threw a glove that the Community Manager of the company could not resist picking up. “Can the dog play central defense?”asked a user, alluding to the defensive weakness of the team trained by José Mourinho. “He could do a better job.”Dulux replied from his official account, with an emoji of a face bursting with laughter.

However, trolling went further. Another user said it was “Time to paint the trophy case“, something that also received a mocking response from Dulux. “Unused trophy case for sale” was the phrase that accompanied an image of a showcase with the spur logo on the sides. To another comment that urged them to “paint the dusty display case” they responded as follows: “Don't be silly, surfaces cannot have dust to be painted.”

This series of messages were later deleted, after quickly becoming a Trending Topic. Tottenham pronounced saying that “they would let it pass” this time when they received the public apology from the company and wanted to muffle the joke: they recovered the image of Matt Doherty deleting a tweet in which he claimed to be a fan of Arsenal, but with Dulux's dog on his face. The last Spurs title was in 2008 (Carling Cup) and next April 25, in the final of the Carabao Cup against Manchester City, they will have the opportunity to end this bad streak that gave wings to the pranksters.
