MADRID, 19 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish rider Toni Bou (Repsol Honda) achieved his 200th victory after extending the world championship lead in the double round of the TrialGP of Andorra, thanks to a victory and a second place obtained this weekend.
After climbing to the second step of the podium on Saturday, Bou was the best once again ahead of Adam Raga, second classified. The Catalan dominated from the beginning and extended his lead in the World Cup overall.
After four TrialGP appointments, Toni Bou is the leader of the World Championship with 74 points, nine more than Raga, who will continue second. The next World Cup match is in Neunkirchen (Germany), which hosts another double event on July 9 and 10.
“I am very happy with how the day went. We were able to achieve a very important victory for the championship. Also, achieving my 200th World Cup victory here in Andorra, between indoors and outdoors, makes me even more excited” Bou recounted.
“We have to be realistic, achieving a first and a second position in a World Championship weekend is positive, as it was also in l’Hospitalet de l’Infant. I think my numbers are very good, we are very badly used to and when I achieve second place it looks like a disaster, but it’s not,” he recalled.
“I always say that it is important to be with your feet on the ground, because arriving here tied with the first and leaving Andorra with an 11-point advantage over the second is very positive. I would have liked to win yesterday, but being realistic, I made several mistakes , just like today we have also committed them, although we have been able to solve them and I am happy with the weekend”, concluded Bou.
