MADRID, 23 Jul. (EUROPA PEESS) –
The Spanish trial rider Toni Bou (Repsol Honda) brought a new world title closer, which would be his 33rd, by taking two victories this weekend in the sixth and penultimate round of the season, held in the town of Sestriere, Italy.
Bou, who had not competed in Sestriere for 20 years, increased his difference in the World Cup, with 231 points to the 202 of Jaime Busto (GasGas), also a Spaniard. In his second appearance on the Italian track, Bou dominated from start to finish on Saturday and this Sunday the Repsol Honda rider once again led ahead of his teammate Gabriel Marcelli.
With this new victory, Bou has chained six consecutive victories and a total of nine so far this season in the Outdoor World Cup, with only one test to go. “It has been a fantastic weekend for us with the two victories. The team has worked very well, we have been training all this month in Andorra at this same altitude and in the end the effort has been rewarded”, he said.
“So I would like to thank the entire team, without them it would not have been possible. We are leaving super happy on vacation. The truth is that we did not expect to leave here with these points ahead, we will work well for the last double date in France and we will try to secure this title,” he added in statements provided by his team.
