“Today it’s Ukraine, but tomorrow it can be you”

“We have to stop this (…) today it’s Ukraine, tomorrow it can be you,” said the Ukrainian star, Olexandr Zinchenkoof Manchester City in the press conference prior to the semifinal of the playoff against Scotland for the World Cup in Qatar.

In the appearance before the media, the ball ceased to be the center of attention to make way for the harsh reality of the Ukrainian country. “It is impossible to describe what happens,” he noted. “It’s unacceptable, so we have to end it,” he said.

“We have to win, Ukraine is the country of freedom,” said the Manchester City winger. Zinchenko he warned, given the situation in his country, that “today it is Ukraine, (but) tomorrow it could be you”, alluding to the other European countries.

Asked about his role, he considered himself personally “more useful from Manchester, sending money or with interviews” and in this way “showing what is happening in our country.”

“All Ukrainians, and the whole world wants to stop the war, there is only one dream”, but when it comes to football, the dream is “to qualify for the World Cup. We are going to try to do it, try to make them happy”.

“Our motivation is more than 100%” ahead of the game, said the player.

In a more sporting key, the Ukrainian coach, Oleksandr Petrakov, he highlighted Scotland’s ability and called them a “great team”, before calling the match the “most important and complicated” of his life.
