On a day with winds of up to 20 knots and in which two fleet races were held for each class before the Medal Race, the crew formed by the sailors Movistar Echegoyen and Barcel resisted the pressure of reaching the final race in the first position only one point of the British Dobson and Tidey. The Galician and the Balearic remained ahead in the last section of the test, in which the British overturned.
