The French international full-back Timothey N’Guessan will remain at FC Barcelona until the end of the 2026/27 season after reaching a renewal agreement with the Blaugrana club, so he will continue under Carlos Ortega for two more seasons than he expected. I already had it signed.
“FC Barcelona and Timothey N’Guessan have reached an agreement to renew the left-back’s contract, which expired in the summer of 2025, until June 30, 2027,” the Blaugrana club announced in a statement.
N’Guessan arrived at Barça in the summer of 2016 from Chambéry, and will thus complete 11 seasons as a ‘culer’. The 31-year-old Frenchman has since become one of the biggest names in international handball, as his record of achievements demonstrate.
The French full-back has won 43 titles with the FC Barcelona shirt, including 8 Asobal League championships, 7 Copa del Rey championships and two EHF Champions League titles.
“I am grateful, happy and I hope to win more titles. I feel very grateful for being at the best club in the world for so long. I am very happy and I hope to win many more titles,” N’Guessan explained in statements to Barça One.
“Eleven years at the club is a long time. I really like life in Barcelona and at the Club. My children are Catalan too. They, as well as my wife and I, are doing very well here at Barça,” he added.
The renewal of the third Blaugrana captain is the fourth of the season, after the contract extensions of Luís Frade and Petar and Djordje Cikusa. Barça coach Carlos Ortega has also renewed until 2026.
The signing event took place at the Spotify Camp Nou offices, with the presence of the Blaugrana president, Joan Laporta, and the top officials of the handball section.
