'Tijeretazo' in medical services

The deep renewal that Joan Laporta spoke a few weeks ago will also cover the medical services of the first team. As AS has learned, the club will have a staff reduction among the locker room employees, which will directly affect a doctor and two physiotherapists. And it is that the current directive considers that the structure of the medical services in the first team is totally oversized by having ten members: three doctors and seven physiotherapists.

Taking into account that The club's objective is to reduce the squad for the next season to a maximum of 22 players, that means that with the current structure of the medical staff, we would be talking about a physio for every three players, a totally unsustainable situation, and even more so now that the club is studying all possible formulas for reduction of expenses and personnel.

What's more, The medical services this course have had a series of vicissitudes and obstacles that require an urgent reformulation. Relapses (Sergi Roberto, Piqué and Araújo), incomplete recoveries (Ansu Fati and Coutinho), or diagnostic errors (Pedri) have led the club to a dead end, with the only option to take traumatic measures.

The first is the relocation of doctor Dani Florit, who came to the first team two years ago. The doctor will join the women's football section as of next season, which needs to reinforce its entire structure after the great growth in recent years.

In addition, two physios will leave the first team. One of them will be Xavi Elain, who was responsible for supervising the recovery of Fati. However, in his case, the relocation points more to problems of ‘feeling’ with the head of the physios, Juanjo Brau.

What's more, the club plans to make a series of adjustments to the payroll of those responsible for the medical staff. And it is that those who charge 200,000 euros gross per year or more will see their payroll reduced by 50%. In the case of not accepting this reduction, the club reserves the possibility of relocating them, with which they would lose the 'plus' of the first team, which is around 7,000 euros per month.
