Tigres takes the lead in Mexico

Venezuelan Yeferson Soteldo converted a goal this Sunday to give the Tigers UANL a 0-1 home win Queretarowith which they took the leadership of the Clausura of Mexican soccer.

On date 13 of the championship, Los Tigres led by coach Miguel Herrera were dominated, but the Gallos lacked aim and were defeated by Tigres who played 55 minutes with one man less and 15 with nine players.

In the first half, the defense of the home team stopped the felines, who saw matches in attack; Querétaro had some arrivals, but was unable to score.

Defender Hugo Ayala was sent off in the 36th minute for violent play, which allowed the Gallos to dominate again in the second half.

After a couple of shots from outside, Frenchman André Pierre Gignac assisted Solteldo, who finished with a right foot from outside the area and scored the winning goal.

In an irresponsible manner, the Venezuelan celebrated with his shirt off and received a second yellow card that left his team with nine men on the pitch.

Tigres reached nine victories, two draws, two defeats and 29 points, one more than Tuzos de Pachuca, while Querétaro closed focused on attack, but again lacked aim and continued in sixteenth place with 12 units.

The day began on Thursday with the triumph of the champion Atlas, 2-1 over Necaxa with goals from the Argentine Julio Furch and the Colombian Julián Quiñones, while the Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre discounted for the Rayos.

This Friday, the UNAM Pumas came from behind and tied 2-2 at Puebla and the Paraguayan Ángel Romero rescued a 1-1 draw for Cruz Azul at the Mazatlán stadium.

On Saturday, San Luis beat León 2-0 with a goal and an assist from Venezuelan John Murillo, Toluca tied 1-1 with Guadalajara, with a saving goal from Uruguayan Leonardo Fernández, Monterrey won 1-0 Santos Laguna and América thrashed Juárez FC 3-0, with goals scored by Mexican Alejandro Zendejas, Uruguayan Federico Viñas and Chilean Diego Valdés.

The thirteenth day will conclude this Monday, when Pachuca will host the Xolos de Tijuana, in a bid to add three points to regain the leadership.
