Tiger Woods will compete this week to “win” the Genesis Invitational

MADRID, 15 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The American golfer Tiger Woods is clear that he has not signed up to play the Genesis Invitational, his first tournament since the last British Open, for anything other than “winning”, so he would not see “something great” only make the cut , while he did not hide that he does not think about the withdrawal although he knows that it will come “sooner rather than later”.

The 47-year-old has still not fully recovered from the serious traffic accident two years ago, which left him with a severe fracture in his right leg, but his competitive ambition remains intact.

“I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think I could beat these guys and win the tournament, that’s my mentality. I’m very rusty, but I’ve gotten out of rusty situations before and I’ve done well,” Woods said at a press conference. collected by the PGA website.

The Californian confessed that his right leg is “better than last year” and that he has prepared thoroughly for his return with a preparation in which “perhaps” he could have “exceeded a couple of times.” “I’m there to get a win, so I don’t understand that making the cut is a great thing. If I’ve signed up for the event, it’s always to get a win,” he reiterated.

“There will come a time when my body won’t let me anymore, and it’s probably sooner rather than later, but wrapping my head around that transition and taking on the role of ambassador and just trying to be here with the boys, no, that’s not it. it’s in my DNA”, added the winner of 15 majors.
