This was the last hours of Isabel II: only Carlos and Princess Ana were able to say goodbye to their mother

The United Kingdom and the whole world is shocked by the death of the queen Isabel II at 96 years old. The monarch passed away this Thursday, September 8, at Balmoral Castle. Her death was made public at 6:32 p.m. (local time) through a brief statement from Royal Family.

“The queen passed away peacefully this afternoon at Balmoral. The king and queen consort will remain at Balmoral tonight and return to London tomorrow,” the official statement read.

Members of the royal family traveled to the Scottish fortress, but not all of them arrived in time before he died. According to The Daily MailOnly King Charles and Princess Anne were able to say goodbye to her in her last hours of life.


Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, his wife Sofia, and Prince William flew from Berkshire on a private jet to Aberdeen and headed to Balmoral. Camilla Parker, who was in the royal residence at Birkhall, moved in a private car. But they did not arrive before she passed away. Harry, who was in London on a professional engagement, arrived at Balmoral at 8 p.m., nearly an hour and a half after the queen’s death had been reported to the public. Meghan and Kate Middleton did not move and waited in London with their respective children.

This Friday, Operation London Bridge comes into action, the ten-day period between the death of the queen and her state funeral, which is expected to take place on Monday, September 19, since the country is mired in a period official mourning.

The queen’s coffin is expected to remain at Balmoral for at least the next two days before being flown to London next week. But the pendulum to introduce her Majesty to her people will also begin to swing, as Charles and Camilla return to London today as King and Queen consort, just as Elizabeth II wanted.
