This Super Bowl LVIII is all about whose team has the most to lose. The top three are Kyle Shanahan, Patrick Mahomes, and Brock Purdy.
There’s nothing better than being in the Super Bowl. The Lombardi Trophy game is the most important football game of all time, with nine million viewers every year and football fame on the line.
In the end, this is an event that will define your career. Performances on the sport’s brightest as well as biggest stage spark conversation during the off-season and affect important decisions that will be made in the future. Because of this, this is a great pressure cooker.
The Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers 31–20 in Super Bowl LIV in 2020, becoming only the third team in Super Bowl history that came back from being down by more than 10 points in the fourth quarter to win.
The two most well-known people are still with the same two teams: head coaches Andy Reid and Kyle Shanahan; star tight ends Travis Kelce and George Kittle; and Super Bowl LIV MVP Patrick Mahomes, of course.
This time, Niners quarterback Brock Purdy and Taylor Swift are the new stars. Purdy became the team’s starter in the middle of the inaugural season after being picked last in the seventh round through the 2022 NFL draft.
The last Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs along with the San Francisco 49ers was a good one.
Make a big play at the right time on Super Bowl Sunday, and you’ll go down in history. But, of course, mistakes also get blown out of proportion.
The 49ers were ahead 20–10 in the middle of the fourth quarter four years ago, but the Chiefs fought back to beat them 31–20.
In the last 6:13, you scored three touchdowns to win. Brady Quinn and Andy Reid won their first Super Bowl, but it wouldn’t be their last.
There’s no doubt that Kyle Shanahan or the 49ers hit the jackpot when they picked Brock Purdy with the 262nd and final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. They are now getting ready for Super Bowl LVIII with Las Vegas.
But the possible benefits of picking the Iowa State player weren’t seen or agreed upon by everyone in San Francisco’s war space during the draft, which caused a rift between Shanahan and the other 49ers coaches.
In an interview with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” on Thursday, NBC Sports’ Peter Kings talked about how 49ers evaluators felt before the pick.
In just two days, the Kansas City Chiefs as well as the 49ers will be in Las Vegas over Super Bowl LVIII. I’ll also be there, which is also very exciting.
Sure, I’m going to gamble away every penny of my money in 37 minutes after landing. Do not tell my wife.
Anyway, this means the newsletter will continue to be sent to you live from Las Vegas all next week.
To make sure you don’t miss anything, make sure you check your email every day. If you would like to know what I do at the Super Bowl, you can follow me on Instagram or Twitter.
But let’s not think about next week right now. This week is still going on. In our huge newsletter every Friday, we rank dynasties and do the yearly Super Bowl simulation on Madden, which you should NEVER miss.
The Chiefs would have won their third Lombardi Trophy in five years if they won the Super Bowl. That would essentially make them a dynasty, which is what we talked about on today’s podcast.
Our 45-minute conversation about dynasties today was something you’ll want to listen to, and that’s mostly because I was the host.
Not only did Tyler Sullivan join me, but we also talked about the Chiefs for a long time and ranked the best NFL dynasties ever.
The 49ers came back from deficits in both of their first two playoff wins, which made John Lynch happy. But it makes him think of the last time they played the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl.
With 5:23 left in the third quarter, the 49ers were behind Green Bay 21–14. They came back to win 24–21.
They were behind 24–7 at halftime but came back to win 34–31. There were 31-20 points scored by the 49ers in the final minute of play of Super Bowl LIV in Miami. The Chiefs were behind 20-10.
That’s why the 49ers need to play all 60 minutes when they play the Chiefs again at Allegiant Stadium on February 11.
The 49ers discovered while in Miami four years ago that Patrick Mahomes can finish plays, even if they get off to a good start.
“The best way to do that is to go after everything we do, start quickly, pay attention to the details every play, and finish anything we start.”
Lynch talked to local reporters about many issues during the 49ers’ last media availability before leaving for Las Vegas on Sunday.
Lynch didn’t want to talk about two pieces of news. He said that there’s a plan to replace Adam Peters, who left his job as assistant general manager to become general manager in Washington, and that the new manager would be someone from within the organization.
A report on ESPN said that passing game expert Klint Kubiak was going to become an offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints. He wouldn’t confirm that either.
