This is the ATP ranking after Roland Garros 2022: number 1, classification and points

A lot of movement in the ranking. And even more to come. Roland Garros will completely change the Top 8 of world tennis, although it will not do so immediately. Novak Djokovic, without going any further, will continue as number one for another week, but that is precisely the time that, for sure, he has left at the top. This season, then, there is a peculiar situation. In 2021, the Parisian Grand Slam ended a week later than this year and, therefore, the points related to the last edition will be subtracted on June 13 and not this Monday 6, as usual. In addition, another variable is added to the equation, related to the measures (freezing and different weighting of points) of the organization due to the pandemic. Rafa Nadal, legendary champion, who will be fourth this week and will maintain the position after the total readjustmentdefended 1,000 points (50% of his title in 2020) and not the 720 that he should in line with his 2021 semifinals.

A mess that shakes everything in the top positions. This Monday, the world ranking will look in the following order: Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev, Rafa Nadal, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, Carlos Alcaraz y Andrey Rublev. On Monday the 13th, however, it will be done in this other way: Medvedev, Zverev, Djokovic, Nadal, Ruud, Tsitsipas, Alcaraz and Rublev. All this, with more additions, since Tsitsipas, after his unexpected elimination in the round of 16 in Paris at the hands of revelation Holger Rune, who rises 12 places to 28th, accepted an invitation to play the ATP 250 in Suttgart, which ends on the 12th and where he does not defend anything. In Germany, from the upper part, and being able to alter the calculations, there will also be Matteo Berrettini and Medvedev (immovable from one) and Auger-Aliassimeon the other hand, will take part in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (ATP 250).

Accounts and more accounts that, for the best placed Spaniards, Nadal and Alcaraz, are simplified. The Balearic, climbing a step, will be fourth this Monday and will remain next week; the Murcian, lowering it, will settle at number 7. Looking ahead to the race for ATP Finals in Turinboth come out stronger: Nadal settles even more in the first position and Alcaraz beats Tsitsipas to be second, with a Ruud who, after reaching the final in Paris, shoots up to fourth place. On top of them, returning to the conventional ranking, the earthquake, with a Nole that will go from one to three (from July 6 to 13), a Medvedev that will reign again in 2022 and a Zverev who will rise to second position. Daniil, therefore, will recover a throne that this year he has already occupied for three weeks: since Djokovic fell in the Dubai quarterfinals in February until the Russian said goodbye to Indian Wells in the third round. A fall that, yes, Novak already had assured, because after the decision of the ATP, WTA and ITF to leave Wimbledon without points, the Serbian was going to lose 2,000 without the option of defense.

The rise of Bernabé Zapata

A lot of movement that, in Armada key, is relativized. In your next update, Spain will continue to have 11 players in the Top 100, although with a notable change. Pablo Andújar falls off it and, with great force, Bernabé Zapata Miralles emerges. The Valencian, after his great participation in Roland Garros, where he said goodbye in the round of 16 after losing to Zverev, He rose 35 places at once and placed 96th, his best position ever (the previous one was 110th). Above, Roberto Carballés (94th), Jaume Munar (93rd), Carlos Taberner (91st), Pedro Martínez (45th), Albert Ramos (43rd), Alejandro Davidovich (30th), Roberto Bautista (20th) and Pablo Carreño (19th) .
