This is how the sentence affects you from Spain

Noela Aguirre is devastated. Daniel Sancho’s grandmother will no longer be able to fulfill the plans she had with her grandson, who was sentenced to life imprisonment on Thursday for the murder and dismemberment of surgeon Edwin Arrieta. Rodolfo Sancho’s mother was very close to her grandson, as he grew up very close to her before leaving for Thailand, where he will now remain in one of the most dangerous prisons in the world.

The chef’s entourage is worried about herbecause now she must accept the fact that she will never see Daniel again. She, like the young man’s parents, was hoping for a lighter sentence. Even though Daniel has not been sentenced to capital punishment, it will be difficult for him to avoid spending the rest of his life behind bars.

A few days before the reading of the sentence, Rodrigo Sancho, Rodolfo’s brother, gave a statement to Europa Press in which she assured that “hope” reigned in the family. They were hoping for a “most favorable” sentence for their nephew, but things have not turned out as they had hoped. Noela is among the most affected people. “She is a strong woman. The idea is that Daniel can return to Spain.“There’s hope for that. His grandmother will be able to be closer to him,” Rodrigo said at the time.

Rodolfo Sancho’s brother also explained that at the beginning of this process he was able to speak with Daniel but that communication was not easy. “He has limited video calls, it’s my brother who talks to him and my mother from time to time”he said before knowing the result of the sentence.

Beatriz Cortázar also said that the woman, very protected by her family, has spent all this time asking when she would see Daniel again, and last September, in fact, it became known that she was “very sad” for what happened. “She lives with me and will continue to live with me until she gets married and all that stuff. Nothing more,” she said then.

Noela said she hoped to be able to go see her grandson at some point because she was “dying to.” “I trust in justice, in the truth of my grandson and I trust in the gods, in Jesus and in Buddha. It is not an easy situation, but we hope that everything goes in the right direction,” he explained. Now, his plans will not be fulfilled, but his son, as the justice system dictates, must now pay for what he did on that fateful August 3, 2023.
