This is how the Prince and Princess of Wales congratulated Spain on the Euro Cup

Rivalry must remain on the pitch and this has been demonstrated by the Prince and Princess of Wales, who on Sunday lamented the defeat of the English team against the Spanish team but, even so, congratulated Luis de la Fuente’s players for their sporting achievement.

“England, your teamwork, grit and determination were an inspiration to us all, young and old,” wrote William of England and Kate Middleton alongside a photograph of little Louis and Charlotte watching the match from home. And they did not end the post without first congratulating their opponent: “Congratulations to Spain.”

The two little ones watched the match with the princess at her residence in Windsor, while the eldest son, George, was with his father at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin watching the match between the two teams live. They shared the stands with Felipe VI, who later presented the trophy to Spain, and Infanta Sofía, a big football fan who did not want to miss this sporting event with her father.

Hours before the decisive match, Kate returned to public life to preside over one of her favourite events: the Wimbledon final, which ended with a new victory for the Murcian champion Carlos Alcaraz against the Serbian Novak Djokovic. Prince Charles’ daughter-in-law presented the trophy to the champion, who has lifted it for the second consecutive year. In the midst of preventive chemotherapy treatment against cancer, Kate reappeared. This is her second act since she underwent abdominal surgery in January and announced that she has cancer in March. The first time she reappeared publicly was on June 15, during the Trooping of Colour.
