This is how the calendar of the Spanish stock market remains in 2022: there will be three holidays

The working calendar of the Spanish stock market for 2022 is already known. It has been announced, as usual, by Bolsa y Mercados Españoles (BME), the company that operates the national equity, fixed income and derivatives markets. Next year there will only be three festive days for investors, two less than in 2021.

The Spanish stock market will not be listed on Friday April 15 (Good Friday) nor will it on Easter Monday, the April 18th.

Then we will have to wait from the fourth month of next year until the last to have a day off in the national market again, since it will not open on Monday December 26, for the ‘delayed’ holiday of Christmas, which will actually fall on Sunday.

In this way, the home markets will function normally on public holidays in the Spanish working calendar such as Wednesday, October 12 (National Holiday), Tuesday, November 1 (All Saints’ Day) or Tuesday, December 6 (Día de the Constitution).

Also, unlike other years, in 2022 there will be no day in which the market is partially listed (that is, only half a session). Therefore, only the aforementioned five days will be “non-working for the purposes of operation,” reports BME.

Wall Street Calendar

The calendar announced this Wednesday by BME for the Spanish stock market includes six fewer holiday sessions than those foreseen by the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for Wall Street next year.

Specifically, the North American market will not be listed on April 15 or December 26, although it will function normally on Easter Monday.

Instead, the New York Stock Exchange will close for a holiday on Monday January 17 (Martin Luther King Jr.Day), Monday February 21st (Presidents’ Day), Monday May 30 (Memorial Day), Monday June 20th (Juneteenth National Independence Day), on Monday July 4th (Independence Day) and Monday September 5 (Workers Day).

In addition, Wall Street will only trade half a session on Thanksgiving (or Thanksgiving), Thursday November 24.
