Málaga has preferential options over six of the players in its current squad: Yanis Rahmani, Jozabed, Josua Mejías, Cristian Rodríguez, Chavarría and Orlando Sá. In the case of the first three, the loan agreements with their respective clubs include a purchase option. The one at the end is in the public domain and amounts to one million euros, an amount currently unaffordable for the coffers of the entity, although it will be necessary to see what is the economic situation of the club in summer and the performance of the player, so far outstanding, between now and then.
“Today it is impossible to think of paying a million euros. We have had to request a loan to be well at the treasury level. But we do not know what will happen to the club from January and where it will go. The only thing we can do is give her a lot of love so that, if Almería wants to give it up, let's be their first option. We don't know what will happen. We are delighted with Yanis' performance. If we can make the purchase option, we will have to evaluate if we can spend that million on one player or make five signings”, Explained Manolo Gaspar in his interview with AS.
The purchase option on Josua Mejías is optional and has an amount of two million euros. In the case of the center-back, the options that the club can access to pay that amount are almost non-existent, although it will be necessary to see how the player continues to evolve and what would be the claims of the footballer, Málaga and his club, Leganés, in summer.
The only mandatory option in this regard is the one referring to Jozabed, on whom Málaga secured their transfer in the event of promotion to First Division at a cost of 500,000 euros. “It is a clause that does not mortgage us and he is a player who has a First Division level. For me that mandatory option, with that price and with this player, is a gift”.
Málaga also kept a right of first refusal over Cristian Rodríguez, whose assignment from Extremadura also expires on June 30. If a club decides to take over his services, the blue and white entity will have the possibility of matching his offer and staying with the midfielder.
Manolo Gaspar also ensured continuity in the Chavarría and Orlando Sá project in the event of promotion to First. In the agreement reached with both players, the amounts and the future contract of each one are agreed upon if that long-awaited return to the top category is achieved. In any case, with or without promotion, Málaga intends to address the continuity of Chavarría. The performance of the ram is also being very outstanding and at La Rosaleda they are more than satisfied with it. “When the time comes and we see how the club is doing economically, I want to wait for the moment to launch the best possible offer to an important player”, Acknowledges the sports director. The future of Orlando Sá and his possible continuity in case of not being promoted will depend on the level that the Portuguese gives in the next six months. So far their contribution has been below expectations.
