This Cadiz is very much alive

It is never late if happiness is good says the saying and Cádiz wanted to make it theirs against Rayo. It took a long time but Cádiz from last season finally appeared. The one who did not give a ball for lost. The one you thought you dominated and without realizing it you were already below on the scoreboard. That Cádiz is still very much alive in the League after its victory (2-0) (the first at home) against a Rayo that will not finish finding itself in this 2022. The victory, beyond breaking the losing streak, shows that those of the Silver Cup can play a lot and well.

alleviate their respective crises. That was the objective of Cádiz and Rayo. on the local side Sergio changed scheme after the poor image shown in Los Cármenes, to a 4-4-2 with two fast wingers (Alejo and Idrissi). The Catalan coach was perhaps looking to hurt the redheads, who could show signs of fatigue after the effort of the Cup. Iraola, meanwhile, came out with everything, except for Catena (sanctioned) and Trejo, who started on the bench.

If someone started wanting to scare away the ghosts, it was Cádiz. The yellows (purple today) handcuffed Rayo in each outing with suffocating pressure and when it came to creating play they found plenty of space on both wings. The people of Madrid, if they already had problems in the early stages, saw how their only fit central defender on the field was injured in the 25th minute. Maras, who had not played a game in two months, replaced Saveljich. Curiously, it was after the change when Rayo’s best minutes came. The visitors balanced the game based on high pressure, patience and long possessions in which they waited for the rival error. With Cádiz playing so much, these mistakes came. After a steal of the ball and a better move, Guardiola had it in front of Ledesma’s goal, but his shot went high.

Rayo did not take advantage of its best moment and Cádiz reappeared again with several arrivals of danger. An action in added time was protested and much on the local side, in which Luca ran over Lozano in an aerial ball before touching the ball. The entire Mirandilla was on fire since that same story was decreed as a penalty a few days ago in Son Moix. Neither for Soto Grado, at the foot of the field, nor for Medié Jiménez, in the VAR, there was nothing punishable. Hard to understand.

Perhaps the rage for the action not called emboldened Cádizwhich returned to a high pace in the early stages of the second half. And it was a set piece when the long-awaited local goal came. Idrissi, in the corner, put it long to the far post and there it appeared Alcaraz to finish off with his head to the bottom of the net. The midfielder had to back down first before heading and it must be said, Luca helped with a soft hand. It wouldn’t be finish day. Minutes later he would screw it up again with a new false start. In a center by Alejo, the Real Madrid youth squad jumped (badly) and after touching the ball, he left the ball on a tray to a Idrissi, who only had to adjust it to put land in between. Special mention to the robbery in the middle of the field of Fede San Emeterio.

Rayo was inert and only Cádiz could get them into the match. A bad communication between Espino and Ledesma could have cost the locals a goal against. Luis Hernández, attentive, saved the ball on the same line. The following minutes were a want and I can’t of a Lightning that not even luck accompanies. Álvaro García, in the closing stages, sent a ball to the crossbar. The Ray begins to worry; while Cádiz is only one point away from salvation when many believed him in the Second Division. This team can never give up.
