They raise 40,000 euros for Ukraine at an auction of ex-cyclist Jan Ullrich’s bicycle

MERDINGEN (GERMANY), 7 Apr. (dpa/EP) –

An auction to get help for the victims of the conflict started in Ukraine by Russia raised 40,000 euros on Thursday for a bicycle donated by former German cyclist Jan Ullrich, winner of the 1997 Tour de France.

All the money raised in the auction through the ‘United Charity’ portal for the bicycle, a model manufactured specifically for Ullrich’s participation with the telekom team in the 1998 Tour de France, will reach those affected by the war in Ukraine by part of the organization “A heart for children”.

“I wish with all my heart that peace and happiness return to Ukraine soon,” Ullrich said in a video shared by United Charity on the auction website.
